Shelagh Murphy, LCSW

I have 14 years of experience providing support to individuals and families facing a broad range of challenges including depression, anxiety, medical issues, end-of-life care/hospice, recovery from abusive situations, trauma, and significant life changes.

I was born and raised in Boston, am graduate from Boston Latin School and fortunate to have been a foreign exchange student. I earned a BFA in Photography from Arizona State University before serving two years in the Peace Corps. Upon returning to the States, I moved to NYC, where I pursued and completed my Masters in Social Work.

I started my social work career in medical social work in Boston and NYC, specifically in ICUs and oncology. As lock downs were lessening, I relocated to North Carolina where I started a private practice while running an Intensive Outpatient Program.

My background in art and experiences living in different locations and cultures deeply influence my practice, bring creativity and curiosity to sessions.

Colleagues Tomás (orange) and Gus (grey tux) enjoy hanging out in the cat castle set up in the office and saying hi on occasion.
